Parents Information

  • Hockey Program Equipment Requirement:
Hockey players participating in SK8 Georgian Bay hockey programs must wear full hockey equipment, including a properly fitted hockey stick, while on the ice.

  • Skate Care & Maintenance Reminders:
    • Remember to air out skate boots after each use to help prevent moisture buildup and odour.
Always wear protective skate guards when walking off the ice to protect blades and reduce the risk of slipping.
    • After skating, dry the blades and sole plate completely with a clean cloth to prevent rust.
Do not leave hard guards on skates after use, as they can trap moisture and cause blade damage.
    • Before removing skates, unlace them fully to prevent the back of the boot from breaking down, creasing, or ripping over time.

  • On-Ice Safety Reminders:
    • Skaters should get up quickly after a fall and move to a safe area when needed.
    • When skating backwards, always look in the direction of travel.
No food, gum, or candy is permitted on the ice.
