Coaches Meet the Team
 
 

Jan Hulme has over 25 years of coaching experience. She is Level 2 Certified, Level 2 Synchronized, Level 1 Special Needs and Level 3 Technical and Theory. Jan has spent 15 years as the co-coordinator of the former Blue Mountain Skating School out of Collingwood. She has been the Coach Liaison for Collingwood and Stayner Figure Skating Clubs for the past 15 years. Jan also filled the position of Coach Liaison for the COS Coaches Committee for two years. Jan is now thrilled to have opened her own skating school, Sk8 Georgian Bay. Her vision... to skate and be free with a dream. - Back to the Top

 

Rose Kusiar was born and raised in Collingwood and began her skating career at the age of two. After she completed her Gold Dances, she retired from competition to become a professional skating coach. She has been teaching figure skating for 35 years and power skating for the last 28 years. Rose teaches year round in the communities of Thornbury, Collingwood and Wasaga Beach. Rose is happy to teach all age groups and all levels. She looks forward to many more years of teaching, especially with her two grandchildren. - Back to the Top

 
Diane Hall Colley for the past 25 years, Diane has enjoyed coaching skaters of all ages, from the basic fundamentals to the advanced levels of Skate Canada’s Star Skate program. Diane was the Coach Liaison for the Collingwood Skating Club for 10 years and a member of the COS Coaches Committee where she held the positions of Secretary and Coach Liaison on the Judges Committee. At the amateur level, Diane proudly represented the 1971 Canadian World Team, where she placed 5th at North Americans in Peterborough, ON and 16th at Worlds in Lyon, France. Diane currently coaches in Collingwood, Elmvale and Creemore. Cheryl Bailey has been teaching figure skating for the past 42 years. She has spent these years coaching throughout Canada and the US, including Ontario, New Brunswick, New York and New Jersey. Cheryl has had the thrill of coaching two Canadian Competitors. She is very excited to be teaching Star Skate in Owen Sound, Meaford and Collingwood. - Back to the Top 
 
Michael Koshilka has been involved in figure skating in the Georgian triangle since the age of ten. A Collingwood boy at heart, he competed at the national level with partners Carol Wheeler and Andrea Derby. Michael has been coaching for sixteen years now and is quite excited to be a part of SK8 Georgian Bay. - Back to the Top 
 
Mary Hardie has 29 years experience as a teaching coach. She has her Level 3 Certified. Mary is competent to coach from star skate to competitive singles. She has 5 years experience in the ice show venues. - Back to the Top
 
Janet Collins has been a Skate Canada Professional Coach since 1979. She became a Special Olympic coach on 1990. She is fully certified as a Level 2 NCCP Figure Skating Coach as well as Level 2 NCCP Special Olympics Coach. She has had the honour of being a coaching member of Team Ontario in four Special Olympic National Games and Team Canada for two Special Olympic World Winter Games. She is currently a provincial Figure Skating Advisor for the Special Olympics. She was thrilled to be nominated for the Petro Canada Excellence Coaching Award by Skate Canada and Special Olympics. She is happy to be coaching with the Wasaga Beach FSC, Collingwood Skating Club. - Back to the Top
 
Azure-Dee Perkins has been coaching for 13 years in local area clubs. She has her level 2 certified coach, certified can power skating coach, and level 1 special needs coach. Azure-Dee has completed her gold skills, dance, and figures. She is highly experienced in competitive and star skate skating and coaching. Azure -Dee was trained under the direction of Doug Leigh at Mariposa School of Skating from preliminary ladies to senior competitive ladies, specializing in jump and spin techniques, as well as choreography. She attends various seminars throughout the year and organizes and choreographs many ice shows. She is looking forward to coaching with SK8 Georgian Bay. - Back to the Top
 
Christine Howell started her coaching career in 1993. She is currently a Level 2 Certified and Level 3 Theory and Technical Coach. She graduated with Honours from Seneca College in 1995 in Coaching Technique and Sports Science. Christine enjoys coaching Figure Skating, Choreography and Power Skating. She has her Triple Gold Tests. In 1984 she was named by the Province of Quebec to the National Canada Honour for Outstanding Achievements in Figure Skating. She lends her coaching skills to students in Collingwood, Wasaga Beach and Stayner . - Back to the Top
 
Corrie Gibbons has her Level 1 Certification and Intro to B (Level 2 ) Theory. She coaches out of Wasaga Beach Figure Skating Club. Corrie holds the Clinic Director position at Bounce Back Physiotherapy Inc. in Elmvale. She specializes in off-ice training and core stabilization training. - Back to the Top
 
Lorilee Nelson has 12 years of coaching experience, with her Level 2 certified and her Gold Level CEP. She enjoys coaching CanSkate and Star Skate at all levels and ages. Lori can be found coaching at the Owen Sound Skating Club as well as with SK8 Georgian Bay. To add to her talents, Lori has her B. Jason Monck has been skating since the age of 4. He is Level 2 Certified and Level 3 Theory. He has 18 years of coaching experience. Jason specializes in skating, jumping and spinning techniques. He has his Gold Medal in Freeskate and Dance. Jason skated competitively out of Mariposa Skating School under Doug Leigh and out of the Granite Club with Louis Strong. He had instruction from many of top coaches including Neil Carpenter, Donald Jackson, Sandra Bezic and Osborne Colson. He competed nationally in Canada from 1980 to 1988. Jason spent 8 years skating professionally for Disney on Ice. Jason believes that although hard work is necessary for success, his focus includes having fun too. Julie Burns grew up in Stayner and has been skating since the age of two. She skated in Stayner, Collingwood, Mariposa Skating School and Upper Canada Skating School. She has completed her Gold Dances, 6th Figure and Jr. Silver Free Dance. Julie graduated from Seneca College with her Coaching Techniques in Figure Skating. She is Level 3 certified and has been actively coaching for the past 23 years. Julie is competent in coaching Canpowerskate, Canskate, Junior, Intermediate and Senior skaters. Julie is proud of her coaching accomplishments including having students reach their Gold Dances, 7th Figure and Gold Skills. She has had students at Central Ontario Section Interclub Competitions, Saskatchewan Juveniles and New Zealand National Championships. - Back to the Top
 
Karen Kelly has skated since the age of 6 in with the Elmvale Figure Skating Club. She has also skated with the Wasaga Beach Figure Skating Club. She has achieved her 8th Figure, Gold Skills, Gold Dances and her Junior Silver Freeskate. Karen has graduated with honours from Seneca College with her Advanced Coaching Techniques (Figure Skating) Diploma. Jason Turner is Level 3 Certified and has been coaching for 11 years. He was a National and International Medallist for Canada in Freeskate Pairs. Jason was a member of the 1994 Canadian Olympic Team and World Team Member. He is also owner of Jason Turner Skate Sharpening. Jennifer Nocito-Turner is Level 3 Certified and has been coaching for 13 years. She was a National and International Medallist for Canada and the United States in Ice Dance. She was a member of the U.S.A Olympic Skating Team as a Team Alternate. She is currently a choreographer for amateur and professional skaters. Jennifer is highly qualified with training provided by George Randolph and the California Ballet School. - Back to the Top 
 
James & Adrienne Callan have 13 years coaching experience. In 1998 in Barrie, they formed a team and began teaching in Elmvale. Their team coaching approach helps to create a well rounded skater. Adrienne specializes in freeskate, skills and dance, while James focuses on dance, footwork and stroking. They are currently working out of the Elmvale Skating Club. They are also busy raising two young boys and running James’ other business including Upperclass Recordings, Shall We Dance, and Xentric Activewear. - Back to the Top
 
Kathy Whitley is our off ice activities director. As a 13 year member of the Shelburne Figure Skating Club, with her 2nd Figure, Silver Dances and Bronze Freeskate, Kathy is well aware off the needs of skaters on and off the ice. Kathy has her B.A. and her B. Ed. She has her Vice Principal Qualifications and specializes in reading and math. Kathy is also qualified in Music, Phys. Ed, and French as a second language. Kathy has a vast amount of coaching experience. She has coached figure skating, clogging and gymnastics. She has many hobbies that translate into great off-ice activities. She has travelled extensively throughout Europe, the US and the Caribbean. She has ran her own scrapbooking business for two years and has many great ideas to capture the skating experience. Kathy enjoys jewelry making and card making. She likes walking, reading, playing piano and skiing. Kathy has spent may hours volunteering in her community with the Figure Skating Club as Competition Chair, Highlands AAA Hockey Club Fundraising Chair, Creemore Minor Hockey booth co-ordinator and School Division Chair to name but a few. - Back to the Top
 
Janice Bigham has been coaching for three years and is working on completing her level one. Janice started skating in Creemore when she was four years old and has completed her Gold dances and Gold skills. She is one of the club coaches in Stayner and is the club coach in Honeywood. Janice also teaches in Creemore. She skates on the Iced Energy Adult Synchronized Skating Team that represents the Newmarket Skating Club and is one of the coaches of the Juvenille and Pre-Novice Synchronized Skating Teams from the Honeywood Skating Club – “The Country Blades”. - Back to the Top
 
Ingrid M. Felluga has her NCCP certified Level 3 in Singles Freeskate, as well as her NCCP certified Level 2 in dance, Level 3 theory and technical in Dance. Ingrid is currently enrolled in the National Coaching Certification program for Level 4 & 5 with 9/12 Level 4 tasks completed. She was involved in Active Participant in Continuous Education Program for Coaches and was a COS coaches committee representative for Midway East in 1998-1999 and 1999-2000, receiving the 2001 Club Coach Award. In 2001, Ingrid became a Skate Canada-Central Ontario Club Coach Award Nominee. Ingrid also has her Level 1 Coach Evaluator Special Olympics and Level 1 technical. She is an Honours Graduate from the Seneca College Figure Skating Coaching Techniques Program. Ingrid coaches all levels from grassroots through to competitive. Many of Ingrid's skaters have passed competitive singles tests at all levels as well as gold level tests in freeskate, skills, interpretive and dance. Ingrid likes to specialize in competitive singles freeskating, incorporating both on and off-ice jump technique training. Ingrid is available to coach freeskate, skills, interpretive, dance and choreography. - Back to the Top
