Adrienne has been involved in skating since the young age of 5 where she skating locally before moving her training to Barrie for a more competitive structure. She trained at the Mariposa National Training Center under the coaching of Doug Leigh and his amazing team. She now lives in Barrie with her husband James and their 3 young boys. Adrienne is an ISPC certified skating coach and her friendly enthusiastic personality makes her a perfect choice for skaters at any level. Her passion for photography has recently developed into a business allowing her to even further showcase her creativity and fun nature.
James Callan

He commenced his journey in the world of hockey and figure skating on the serene Lake of the Woods in Kenora, Ontario, his hometown. Born and raised in Kenora, James decided to relocate to Barrie in 1989 to pursue training at the prestigious Mariposa School of Skating, where he later became a six-time national ice dance competitor.
James, along with his wife Adrienne, now proudly calls Barrie, Ontario, their home, where they’ve raised three grown sons. As part of his regular routine, James dedicates his time to providing club dance coaching and freelance lessons. Fuelled by his deep passion for hockey, James also embarked on a journey to train aspiring hockey players, imparting invaluable skills in areas such as edges, turns, and control.
Jason Monck
Jason Monck
Jason has been skating since the age of 4. Jason is an ISPC and Level 3 theory certified skating coach. He has 23 years of coaching experience. Jason specializes in skating, jumping and spinning techniques.   He has his Gold Medal in Freeskate and Dance. Jason skated competitively out of Mariposa Skating School under Doug Leigh and out of the Granite Club with Louis Stong. He had instruction from many of top coaches including Neil Carpenter, Donald Jackson, Sandra Bezic and Osborne Colson. He competed nationally in Canada from 1980 to 1988. Jason spent 8 years skating professionally for Disney on Ice. Jason believes that although hard work is necessary for success, his focus includes having fun too. A happy skater is going to want to excel more than an unhappy one. Jason also owns a skate sharpening company.
Julie Nolan
Julie Nolan
Julie began coaching in 2006 and has coached individuals of all ages, from learning to skate through to Star Skate skating skills. Julie has coached in the Kitchener-Waterloo area and Toronto for both private power skating companies and Skate Canada programs. She has also recently been coaching power skating, learning to play, and fundamentals for girls’ hockey in the South Georgian Bay area. Julie has vast experience coaching children, youth, and adults and has an energetic and friendly approach to empowering athletes to feel confident in growing their skills.
Jan Hulme
Jan Hulme
SK8 Georgian Bay Skating School was opened by her in 2006. She is a mother of two and a grandmother of three.
She has 40 years of coaching experience training athletes at all levels and age groups, including professional athletes who still seek her out in the off-season. Fundamentals are of utmost importance to Jan.

Larissa’s major athletic focus growing up was figure skating. She achieved gold levels in ice dance and gold-level interpretive. She started coaching at 13 years of age. When coaching her athletes, her mission is for all skaters to have a positive experience by creating an atmosphere of fun and learning. She helps skaters of all ages and abilities achieve their skating goals!
Liz Manley
Liz Manley
Liz Manley has joined us for her first summer at SK8 Georgian Bay! She is an Olympic Figure Skating silver medalist turned professional skater featured in many ice shows. She has coached in the United States as well as Canada. She is also a recipient of the Order of Canada. Liz always has a great story to share with a smile on her face!
