SK8 Georgian Bay has implemented a Learn to Skate Camp. This program is designed to teach the fundamentals of skating in a progressive and sequential manner to develop the fundamental of basic skating skills to give skaters strong skating for recreation skating or advance into hockey or figure skating. Instruction, training and testing is performed in a fun environment by our Certified School Professionals.
Skaters should wear warm, comfortable clothing. However, do not overdress skaters- once they are moving around they become quite warm. Remember, the more clothing the less mobility a skater has. Also, bulky clothing makes it very difficult for coaches to assess body movement.
Helmets approved by the CSA are mandatory for all skaters in the Learn to Skate Camp. Please do not use bicycle helmets. After the skater passes Stage 5 it is up to the parent to decide when the skater no longer needs to wear a helmet. Camper will have one hour of ice each day
There will be 24 hour supervision, 3 homemade healthy meals and 2 snacks provided in the Recreation Hall daily. Overnight campers will have a variety of fun filled activities in the evening followed by some down time. Each day camper will take part in a 1 hour of on ice lesson, dry land training plus other
fun sport oriented activities will keep campers busy all day long. Evening campers enjoy camp fires, movie night and Thursday is a special à la carte night with different themes and we ask campers to have dress clothes.
Proposed Extras: Overnight campers also visit Wasaga Go Kart, mini golf, batting cages, Wasaga Paint Ball and Laser Tag.
